As everyone knows we are on a boil order in the Granite City area. Now I understand that the water company was inundated with calls yesterday, it took me 20 minutes to get a real live person on the phone. It was about 6:15 when I finally got through. They told me the boil order was put into effect at 6:11. Between 6:11 and around 7:00 when I received the call from the water company, I could have drank some tap water or something that could have endangered me or my kids. Now I new about the problem earlier and stocked up on water at the store, but alot of people didn't even know about it, or wouldn't have known to boil water when the water pressure is that low. I worked in the waterworks industry for 11 years and knew what to do....

My question is this....Why, when the city found out about the boil order, couldn't they have warned the citizens over the warning system that we have here? Let the citizens know for sure and keep them safe from potentially dangerous water...Maybe the system isn't set up for a warning like that, or the city left it up to the water company, since it was their problem. I did not see anything on the news or channel 10.

I'm not bitching, just wondering why everyone was left in the dark for so long..
