Dawn L. Stearns, 41, of Granite City, IL died Monday, May 28, 2007 at her home. She was born August 20, 1965 in Effingham, IL. She married David A. Stearns on January 13, 2001 in Glen Carbon, IL and he survives. She worked for Children’s Home and Aide Society of Illinois for 7 years as coordinator of the delinquent service program. She was a member of Metro East Community Church in Edwardsville, was a graduate of Triad High School and enjoyed her times spent as an Elks Soccer mom. She will be remembered for the love she had for her children and family. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by three children, Jalyn Schroeder, Halle Schroeder and Anna Stearns; mother and step-father, Judy (Porter) and Ray Grinter of Collinsville; father and step-mother, Don and Dee Deterding of Hillsboro; three sisters, Robin (Alison Boggs) Deterding of Boulder, Colorado, Terri (Tom) Hennrich of St. Louis, Loris (David) Krause of Naperville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Linda Stearns of Granite City, brother-in-law, Matthew Stearns of Granite City; sister-in-law, Meagan Stearns of Granite City; nieces, nephews, other extended family and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Fern and Worthy Porter and paternal grandparents, Laura and William Deterding. Visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL on Friday, June 1, 2007 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2007 with Fred Francis and Rev. Paul Westbrook officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to the family for the children’s college fund and may be accepted at the funeral home.
