All it is going to take is a flick of the wrist to earn cash at St. Elizabeth's annual parish picnic, which will be June 12-14. The picnic features carnival rides, bingo, kids games, a dime pitch, raffles, and food and drink.

"This year should another fun and successful three-day family event," said Keith Gehling, parish marketing advertiser.

"(The picnic) has become one of the premier picnics in the Metro East and is considered a homecoming that people look forward to each year. There is so much to do for all ages. It's just a great place to see old friends and make new ones," Gehling said.

Picnic organizers are holding an inaugural Royal 5K run at 8 a.m. June 13. The entry fee is $15 prior to the run.

For more information on the run, contact Amy Nesbit at 558-7546 or at amynesbit63@yahoo.com.

Among the most popular events at the picnic are the washers tournaments, said Gehling, parish marketing advertiser.

The tournaments get under way at noon June 13 and 14. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, third and fourth places.

The deadline to sign up is 11:30 a.m. the day of the competitions. Team entry fees are $25.

Contestants can also mail or drop off entry fees to Dennis Riggs at 27 Legacy Drive, Granite City, IL 62040. Make checks payable to St. Elizabeth Church. Call 931-2380 for more information.

Organizers are offering pre-sale weekend wristbands good for unlimited rides that are good for all three days at a cost of $60 per band. They are available at the parish office, 2300 Pontoon Road, until noon on June 12.

The parish office number is 877-3300.

Wristband purchases at the picnic will cost $70 per band.

Wristband matinee purchases are available for June 13 and June 14.
